How to apply

Application deadline: Friday 31 January 2020, 11.59pm BST

There isn't a separate application form for these scholarships. Depending on your application status, you can be considered for these awards in two ways:

  • When you apply for your PhD
Select the 'UoY Overseas Research Scholarship' option from the drop-down menu when asked how you intend to finance your studies.
  • If you've already applied
Email the Postgraduate Administrator in your department and ask them to add the ‘UoY Overseas Research Scholarship’ tag to your PhD programme application before the scholarship deadline.

How we allocate

Each department selects one preferred and one reserve nominee. If you are selected, your department will pass your details to the University selection panel, with a supporting statement outlining:

  • your academic excellence
  • how your project fits with the department’s research or international strategy
  • how your project fits with the University’s research or international strategy

The selection panel will rank the nominees based on your departments' supporting statements and the strength of your PhD application.

Accepting your scholarship

We aim to notify successful applicants in late March 2020. You will receive a formal letter offering the scholarship, which you must accept within two weeks.

Terms and conditions

You must accept your scholarship within two weeks of being offered it. Otherwise, you will lose your scholarship and it will be offered to another candidate.

If you defer your start at the University of York until the 2021/22 academic year, you will lose your scholarship. You are free to reapply the following year.

If you defer your start within the same academic year (for example starting 1 January 2021 instead of 1 October 2020) you can keep your scholarship.

Deadline

Application will close on 31 January 2020

"Last year, I reached out to SI-UK, Jaipur for my Master’s journey, and it has been an incredibly fulfilling and successful experience. From guiding me through the application process to assisting with letters of recommendation and statement of purpose, and even following up with universities, SI-UK provided comprehensive support at every step of the journey. They went the extra mile, assisting with admissions, fee processing, accommodation arrangements, visa guidance, and coordination on medical checkups. I firmly believe that my admission to the University of Birmingham wouldn't have been possible without SI-UK. I highly recommend SI-UK to anyone seeking admission to a UK or Ireland university."
