GREAT Scholarship
Overview
This exciting scholarship opportunity is open to citizens of Ghana, Greece, India, Malaysia, Mexico and Thailand. The scheme awards students who aspire to become influential leaders in their future careers, have wide ranging interests outside their studies and have a desire to broaden their personal and academic experience at the University of St Andrews.
Awards of £10,000 and £20,000 are available for full time postgraduate taught Masters programmes (MSc, MRes or MLitt) across all subject areas.
Please note that other postgraduate programmes, including the Graduate Diploma, are not eligible courses for this scholarship. Online, distance learning or courses delivered at a Scottish university campus overseas are not eligible for the scholarship.
The Selection Committee seeks applicants who are academically excellent and gifted students. The successful scholar will be expected to engage with our Student Ambassadors Scheme and the British Council.

Awards are available by country (nationality), as follows:
Mexico

One scholarship of £20,000 for any postgraduate taught Masters programme.
Ghana

One scholarship of £20,000 for a postgraduate taught Masters in one of the following degrees relating to climate change: MSc Marine Ecosystem Management, MSc Geochemistry, MSc Strategic Earth Resources, MSc Sustainable Development, MSc Energy Policy and Finance.
Thailand

Two scholarships of £10,000 for any postgraduate taught Masters programme.

One scholarship of £20,000 for a postgraduate taught Masters in one of the following degrees relating to climate change: MSc Marine Ecosystem Management, MSc Geochemistry, MSc Strategic Earth Resources, MSc Sustainable Development, MSc Energy Policy and Finance

Additional criteria
You must have applied for a taught postgraduate Masters course: MLitt, MRes, MSc.
Non-Masters postgraduate programmes, including the Graduate Diploma, are not eligible courses for this scholarship. Online, distance learning or courses delivered at a Scottish university campus overseas are not eligible for the scholarship.
Applicants must meet the English language requirement of their course, or have started a 10-week pre-sessional English course, by 30 June 2024.
