Organ Scholarship
Overview
All undergraduate and postgraduate students can apply an Organ Scholarship, worth up to £1,500 a year. This is paid as a cash award at the end of each term. These scholarships are normally held for three years.
You don’t need to be studying a music degree to apply, but you will need to attend an audition to be considered.
Organ scholars accompany the Choir of Royal Holloway, performing a weekly lunchtime concert and a weekly service of choral evensong. You will also take responsibility as a conductor with the Founder’s Choir. You will receive training to help with these duties.
The number of scholarships awarded each year varies based on the quality of the candidates who apply.
Additional information
Auditions for organ scholarships comprise the performance of two contrasting songs (of your own choice), sight-reading, score-reading, accompaniment of a hymn and psalm and improvisation, lasting approximately 30 minutes.
