Norman Palmer Partial Scholarship
Overview
Norman Palmer was the academic principal of the Institute of Art and Law, under the auspices of which he provided countless hours of instruction to hundreds of students. His wisdom and intellectual curiosity produced a number of leading publications, including Palmer on Bailment, Art Loans and Museums and the Holocaust, as well as dozens of articles in the area of art and cultural property law. As a barrister, he specialized in the fields of cultural objects, personal property, commercial law and dispute resolution, including the mediation of disputes over cultural objects. His clients included governments, local authorities, cultural institutions, religious bodies, indigenous communities, museum curators, art collectors, art dealers, transporters and insurers. His knowledge and understanding of the field as well as his enthusiasm for it, were unparalleled, and the LLM programme in Art, Business and Law is his legacy to Queen Mary.
