Overview
The Art Museum and Gallery Studies MA provides students with the opportunity to develop skills as a curator or gallery educator in the fields of both historical and contemporary art. We provide the knowledge and skills necessary to establish or progress your successful career working in art museums or galleries.
Eligibility Criteria
The scholarship is open to UK, EU and international applicants who hold, or expect to achieve a minimum of a 2.1 Honours degree (or international equivalent) in fine art or an art related subject.
We welcome applications from all sections of the community regardless of race, ethnicity, gender or sexuality, and wish to encourage applications from traditionally underrepresented groups in UK higher education.
International students
If your first language is not English you must also meet our English language requirements.
How to apply
Course application
You must apply for the course through the University’s online postgraduate application system.
All relevant fields should be completed, but fields marked with a red asterisk must to be completed. The following information will help us to process your application. You will need to:
- insert the programme code 4138F in the programme of study section
- select ‘MA Art Museum and Gallery Studies (full time)’ as the programme of study
- demonstrate your preparedness to undertake the Art Museum and Gallery Studies MA
- demontrate your aspirations for a career in the art museum and gallery sector
- attach degree transcripts* and certificates and, if English is not your first language, a copy of your English language qualification.
*You will not be able to submit your application until you have submitted your degree transcript/s.
Scholarship application
You must apply for the scholarship by emailing a personal statement to pgmch@ncl.ac.uk. The statement should be a maximum of 500 words and outline:
- your preparedness to undertake the Art Museum and Gallery Studies MA
- your aspirations for a career in the art museum and gallery sector
