2019-20 David Bradely Travel Grant Scholarship
Overview
This scholarship, with a total award value of GBP 3,000.00, was established by an alumnus of LSHTM to honour Professor David Bradley, a member of staff at LSHTM in the 1980s.
The awards are available for MSc projects where the focus is on HIV, malaria, or Neglected Tropical Disease (NTD) research.
Successful candidates will be made awards of between GBP 500.00 and GBP 1,000.00.
Applications will be assessed on relevance (HIV, malaria, NTD research); the scientific merit of the proposal; and the submitted budget for feasibility and reasonable economy.
Eligibility for funding
This scholarship is open to applicants who are registered as a full time London-based MSc student at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
Due to the source of funds, students applying for this funding must be from a low- or lower-middle income country. However, the country visited for the MSc project must not be the ‘home’ country of the scholar, and neither should the institution be that at which the scholar was working prior to becoming a student.
How to apply
Applicants must submit, in a single email to the Scholarships team ([email protected]):
- a completed David Bradley Travel Grant application form; and
- a short proposal (no more than 2 A4 sides) which should include:
- a background statement; and
- a description of the work to be done; and
- an account of the benefits to the student’s future career; and
- a description of the features of the institution being visited that make it a suitable venue; and
- a fully costed budget for travel and accommodation, highlighting which costs the application for funding is to cover, and confirming any other funding.
Please note that incomplete applications will not be considered. Incomplete applications include those with missing supplementary information or documentation as listed above.
By submitting an application for this funding applicants agree to its terms and conditions.
The deadline for receipt of complete applications is 23:59 (BST) on Sunday 17 May 2020. (Please note that this deadline has been amended: the original advertised deadline date was Sunday 26 April 2020, but this was extended due to the COVID-19 pandemic).
Deadline
Application will close on 17 May 2020
