Sports Global Excellence Scholarship
Overview
The Sports Global Excellence Scholarship is aimed at high performing student athletes who wish to combine high performance sport alongside undergraduate or postgraduate taught study at University of Gloucestershire. This is applied as a tuition fee waiver designed to reward sporting excellence. The Scholarships are open only to international fee-paying students.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate they are performing at the required level in the performance sport. The value of the scholarship will be £5,000 for postgraduate students and £7,500 for undergraduate students applied as a tuition fee waiver.

The scholarship application must be completed by the published deadline (30 April 2024 for a September 2024 start date).

The scholarship is only available for the named programme in the offer letter and beginning in September 2024 or January 2025 and for the following high-performance sports: women’s soccer, NFL, men’s basketball, netball, rugby union.

Scholarships are non-transferable.

Students must be studying on campus on a full-time undergraduate degree (minimum 3 years) or postgraduate taught degree (minimum 2 semesters).

Applicants must be international fee payers and must be self-funding (see note 1) for at least 100% of tuition fee.

To be considered for undergraduate level, US applicants must have achieved a minimum academic criteria of HSD 3.6 GPA (out of 4.0) plus high marks in SAT/SAT subject tests/AP classes or exams/ACT or honours/college classes in line with US entry requirements and for postgraduate level, achieve a bachelor degree, 3.4 GPA (4.0) or a minimum score of 80%. An interview may be required. The allocation of the scholarship is competitive, and so not all applications received will be successful. Scholarships will be awarded by the Sports Scholarship Group comprising of coaching staff. Applicants must meet the set and required entry criteria as well as performance criteria.

Applicants must accept scholarship and pay the full advised advanced payment within 28 days of the scholarship award letter otherwise it may be withdrawn and offered to another candidate.

Applicants must not be in receipt of any other scholarship from the University of Gloucestershire and should not have previously been awarded an Undergraduate Merit Scholarship from the University.

On commencing at the University, scholarship holders will be contacted by the University’s Communications, Marketing and Student Recruitment Team (CMSR), and be required to periodically participate in marketing activity that includes (but is not limited to) video and photography content creation, blog commentary, supporting recruitment events.
