Meet the Panelists
- Professor Sarah von Billerbeck, Director of Postgraduate Taught Programmes in the Department of Politics and International Relations and the School Diversity and Inclusion Lead. Sarah’s research has two main thrusts: first, United Nations (UN) peacekeeping, peacebuilding, and post-conflict reconstruction; and second, international organizations, in particular the UN, and legitimacy. Sarah’s experience of working for the UN, and her research, directly feed into her postgraduate modules at the University of Reading: Building Peace after Civil War and Diplomacy.
- Dr Joseph O’Mahoney, Lecturer in Politics and International Relations. Joseph’s research primarily examines questions of how norms and rules about war, the use of force, and nuclear weapons, affect state behavior and how they change, persist and are manipulated. Research findings from his project on how India's nuclear test in 1974, had far-reaching consequences for nuclear politics, feeds into his teaching of Politics of Nuclear Weapons.
