Overview
The University of Sussex Business School helps you to see further. They don’t just take the world for granted as it is, but think about how it could be. The business school's work draws on management, economics, science, technology and innovation studies, to make an impact on the future of people and institutions the world over. The Business School is in the world top 60 for Business and Economics (Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2019).
Three themes run through the heart of the University of Sussex Business School:
- Innovation: understanding innovation requires an appreciation of the supporting economic and regulatory environment, as well as technological advance. We look outside as well as inside the organisation to gain a deeper understanding of innovative processes. Our Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) has led the world in researching the public policy of innovation.
- Management and the public realm: prepare for a world where regulatory change can alter business practice overnight. With increased public scepticism about the benefits of globalisation, we help you understand how the political and social realms cannot be remote from management thinking.
- Social Development: Sussex is ranked 1st in the World for Development (QS World University Rankings 2019). The Business School focusses on the social bases for more sustainable forms of economic development. Our Economics faculty focuses on applied research, directly influencing and informing policy-making organisations throughout the world.
