Overview
Wrexham University became the 10th university in Wales when it was formally awarded university status in 2008. Located in Wrexham, the largest town in north Wales, it remains an accredited institution of the University of Wales and offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees as well as professional courses.
The 6,500 students who are currently enrolled at Wrexham University can take advantage of a large sports centre, radio studio, sound recording studio, engineering laboratories, art gallery, IT facilities, theatre studios, motor racing team, a dedicated crime scene lab and notably the unique asset of a Chinese medicine clinic.
The main campus is in Wrexham, just ten minutes from the town centre, while a new campus recently opened in London, specialising in computing and management. The University has excellent road and rail links that connect Wrexham with Manchester and Liverpool.
Services
The Wrexham University Language Centre runs pre-sessional English lessons and summer school English courses. The University has a dedicated International Student Welfare Team and Student Ambassadors who can provide support for international students throughout the year. Jointly, they organise many events and trips to help students experience British culture, get to know each other and improve their language skills.

Of the four research areas submitted from Wrexham to REF 2021, Social Work and Social Policy scored impressively across the board, particularly for a case study graded 4*. This achievement comes as staff who submitted in this area are setting up a new Social Inclusion Research Institute at the university.
Computer Science also saw an increase in the impact of its work compared to 2014, when the last grades were published, with 25 per cent of its submitted impact case studies achieving 3*. Art & Design entered research for the first time, achieving a 3* for a case study and a very creditable 2* overall. The final area in which Wrexham entered research was engineering, with 9.1 per cent of the outputs being graded as 4*.

Accommodation
Wrexham University has three main blocks of student accommodation. Corbishley Hall is set in 96 acres of parkland and features twenty large single rooms with shared kitchens. Wrexham Village is the University’s newest accommodation, with 328 en-suite rooms divided into flats of between six and eight. The Student Village is the most popular accommodation option and has 208 single en-suite rooms divided into flats of five to six.
Privately rented accommodation is available in and around Wrexham, and the Accommodation Office maintains a list of recommended landlords and students' properties.
