Fer-Garb Scholarship 2020/21

Academic year 2020

Overview

We are delighted to welcome applications for the Fer-Garb Scholarship for overseas MA students to begin in the academic year 2020-21. We welcome applications for the scholarship from overseas students who have been accepted for study on the History of Art Masters Program at UCL, preferably with an interest in following a course of study that includes modern and contemporary art.

The Scholarship will enable outstanding students in financial need to fulfill their potential, and will cover academic fees and living costs for one year of full-time study. In order to apply for the Scholarship overseas students should already have been offered a place on the MA in History of Art at UCL according to the normal application procedure. The scholarship has been set up for three consecutive years and will fund one student a year for three years.

'UCL's MA in the History of Art has been fundamental to the intellectual path and careers of many students. The deeply generous decision of one former student to support an international Masters scholarship offers a life-changing opportunity for those chosen, and makes a difference to our whole discipline,' Professor Alison Wright, Head of Department.

The Scholarship has been created through the generosity of a History of Art Alumnus, with the aim of enabling more of the most promising overseas students of limited financial means wishing to pursue the MA in History of Art at UCL. At the donor's kind request, the Scholarship has been named in honour of his teachers Professor Briony Fer and Professor Tamar Garb.

Philanthropy lies at the heart of the UCL Campaign, with support enabling the best and brightest minds to pursue academic excellence at every level. Scholarships and bursaries are essential in aiding gifted individuals to achieve success throughout the course of their studies and beyond. The Fer-Garb Scholarship is a direct testament to the benefits of philanthropic support and will play a vital role in helping the History of Art Department to develop the next generation of talented art historians.

"Last year, I reached out to SI-UK, Jaipur for my Master’s journey, and it has been an incredibly fulfilling and successful experience. From guiding me through the application process to assisting with letters of recommendation and statement of purpose, and even following up with universities, SI-UK provided comprehensive support at every step of the journey. They went the extra mile, assisting with admissions, fee processing, accommodation arrangements, visa guidance, and coordination on medical checkups.
