Global PhD Scholarship in Computer Science
Overview
A Global St Andrews Scholarship from St Leonard’s Postgraduate College for students admitted into a jointly-supervised (co-tutelle) programme between the School of Computer Science at the University of St Andrews and the Department of Computer Science at the University of Victoria, Canada. This scholarship offers fully-funded award in the School of Computer Science of the University of St Andrews and funded scholarship at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Victoria in Canada.
The University of St Andrews is pleased to offer a scholarship funded by St Leonard’s Postgraduate College, to support an exceptional student undertaking doctoral research in the following project:

Additional criteria
Applicants must not already (i) hold a doctoral degree; or (ii) be matriculated for a doctoral degree at the University of St Andrews or another institution.
Applicants will be admitted to both Universities and therefore have to comply with admission requirements from both Universities.
What does it cover?
Duration of award
Up to 4 years. The student will be expected to spend approximately half the award term at the University of St Andrews, the home University, and half at the University of Victoria. The successful candidate will be expected to have completed the doctorate degree by the end of the award term. The award term excludes the continuation period and any extension periods.
Value of award
The award covers full tuition fees for the award term spent at St Andrews. For the period spent at the University of St Andrews the student will receive a stipend payable at the standard UK Research council rate (the 2019-2020 annual rate is £15,009). For the period spent at the University of Victoria the student will receive a scholarship of CAD$21,000 annually, from which they will cover living costs and the applicable tuition fees.

The University of Victoria, situated in Victoria, the capital of the province of British Columbia, is a comprehensive university at the Westernmost edge of the country. The Department of Computer Science at UVic is recognized among the best in Western Canada, with world-leading researchers in Software Engineering, Machine Learning, Human-Centred Computing and Bioinformatics.
