Description
The Lord Kelvin Adam Smith (LKAS) PhD Scholarships are the University of Glasgow’s flagship scholarships. To date over 100 fully funded PhD projects have been created.
The LKAS PhD Scholarships offer the opportunity for outstanding research students to participate in some of the most exciting areas of research carried out at the University. During October each year researchers from across the University submit project proposals, from which 4 from each of the 4 Colleges (16 in total) are selected to be advertised to potential doctoral students. Of these, 8 scholarships are generally awarded, based on the excellence of both the project and the selected candidate.
Eligibility
The scholarships are open to all students regardless of nationality or residency status. Applicants will ideally hold a First Class undergraduate degree and postgraduate Masters degree awarded with Merit or Distinction and will have a blend of skills and experience to fit the individual project requirements.
Value
Each scholarship will run for up to 4 years and will provide the successful students with an annual stipend with a 15% uplift an UKRI advertised rates, as well as access to an annual research consumables budget of £3000.

Potential PhD projects will be advertised during late November 2018 to 5.00pm, Friday 11 January 2019 unless other stated otherwise but check the Shortlisted LKAS PhD Projects for individual deadline details and application details.
