University of Birmingham Commonwealth Scholarship

Academic year 2022
Amount £3,000
Birmingham, England

Overview

In celebration of the University’s proud status as a partner sponsor of the 2022 Commonwealth Games, we are offering a generous Masters scholarship for international students, to ensure that concerns about finance do not present a barrier to students from Commonwealth countries considering study at the University.

What is the University of Birmingham Commonwealth Scholarship?

With a value of £3,000 per scholarship, this award is available to all international students from countries participating in the Commonwealth Games 2022, who are seeking to study a taught Masters degree at Birmingham in the 2022/23 academic year. Eligible scholars who successfully meet the criteria will have this amount deducted from their total tuition fees owed.

Why choose Birmingham?

For over 120 years, our innovative academic research and teaching has influenced society and made an impact on people’s lives. We continue to have an impact on our city, our country and across the world, and our partnership with the Games is testament to the role we play in our region.

The city and the University are official partners for the Games and Birmingham is perfectly positioned to host such an event – at the centre of the UK with vast experience of hosting world-class international events across our vibrant and diverse city.

By choosing the University of Birmingham during this important year, you will experience the city and campus at its most vibrant.

Who is eligible for a University of Birmingham Commonwealth Scholarship?

In order to be eligible, candidates must meet the following requirements. You must:

  • Have applied for, and receive an offer of admission for, a taught Masters degree at the University of Birmingham UK campus, to study in the 2022/23 academic year.

  • Be classed as ‘domiciled’ in one of the Commonwealth countries.

  • Be classed by the University as an overseas fee payer for tuition fee purposes.

  • Start your studies at the University in September/ October 2022 on a course delivered on-campus.

Are there any programmes not eligible?

  • If you decide to defer your programme start date to September 2023, you will no longer be eligible as the scholarship is only available for programmes starting in September 2022.

  • Students seeking to study on a course solely delivered as a ‘distance learning’ programme are not eligible for this scholarship.

  • Students applying for programmes in the Birmingham Business School are not eligible for this scholarship but are eligible for other separate MSc and MBA scholarships offered by the Business School.

  • Undergraduate degree programmes including the MBChB, MEng, MSci and MPharm undergraduate programmes are not eligible.

Deadline

We recommend that you apply for your intended programme as soon as possible to ensure you meet the eligibility for this scholarship.

Once an offer for admissions is made, candidates must meet the deadlines set by the Admissions Office (and stated in their offer letter) to ‘accept’ their offer and pay a deposit – this will simultaneously secure both the place on the Masters degree programme and this scholarship.

To secure this scholarship candidates must have an unconditional offer, and have accepted this unconditional offer, by 31 August (23:59 UK time/ GMT+1). If candidates secure an unconditional offer after this, they will not be eligible for this scholarship.

Please be aware that the University reserves the right to cease the scholarship offer to new applicants at any time.

Deadline

Application will close on 31 August 2022

"Last year, I reached out to SI-UK, Jaipur for my Master’s journey, and it has been an incredibly fulfilling and successful experience. From guiding me through the application process to assisting with letters of recommendation and statement of purpose, and even following up with universities, SI-UK provided comprehensive support at every step of the journey. They went the extra mile, assisting with admissions, fee processing, accommodation arrangements, visa guidance, and coordination on medical checkups. I firmly believe that my admission to the University of Birmingham wouldn't have been possible without SI-UK. I highly recommend SI-UK to anyone seeking admission to a UK or Ireland university."
