University of Reading named Sustainable University of the Year in 2025 Times Good University Guide
The University of Reading has been recognised as the Sustainable University of the Year 2025 in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide.
Already leading the People & Planet League Table for UK universities and having previously received the Times Higher Education Award for Environmental Leadership, Reading was commended for reducing its carbon emissions by over 60% since 2009 and cutting waste by 35%. The Guide also recognises Reading’s global leadership in climate change studies, further exemplified by the Queen’s Anniversary Prize awarded in 2021.
Professor Robert Van de Noort, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Reading, said: “We are proud to be a multi-award winning community playing a sector-leading role in addressing climate change and environmental sustainability through our world-leading research, teaching and campus operations.
“It is excellent to be recognised as Sustainable University of the Year, which reflects the incredible hard work of our students, colleagues and partners who together have a shared commitment to securing a better global future."
